The Elden Ring Varré quest is easy to overlook if you are not in the habit of thoroughly exploring the Lands Between. White-faced Varré's questline, like that of many other NPCs in Elden Ring, requires you to meet certain conditions in order to progress to the next step. It is the only way to obtain the Bloody Finger item, which allows you to invade as many times as you want, and he also allows you to access one of the bosses earlier than you would otherwise.
Varré appears early in the game, at the first Site of Grace you find after leaving the Stranded Graveyard, but you will not see him again until much later. Varré, thankfully, does not have as many steps as the Ranni quest, but there are a few that are not clear, and you may get stuck trying to figure out where you need to go next. Here's everything you need to know about completing the Elden Ring Varré quest and getting to Mohgwyn's Palace without him.

How to find Rose Church and speak to Varré in Elden Ring
After speaking with Varré at The First Step Site of Grace at the start of the game, you will not be able to find him again until you reach Liurnia of the Lakes. It is also worth noting that you can avoid Stormveil Castle by defeating Godrick and returning to Roundtable Hold to speak with Finger Reader Enia before you find him at this new location.
Rose Church is located on a small island just south of Raya Lucaria Academy. When you speak with Varré, he inquires about something you witnessed at Roundtable Hold. If you select "They did not seem right," he will hand you five Festering Bloody Fingers and you will be able to continue the quest. If you select "They were magnificent!" he will inform you that his work is complete. You can talk to him again if you change your mind.
You must now invade other players three times with the Festering Bloody Fingers. It makes no difference if you defeat those you invade, so do not be concerned if you are not an expert at PvP. After you have finished this step, he will invite you to join his order. You will not be able to continue with this quest unless you agree, so agree now to receive the Lord of Blood's Favor item.

Elden Ring Church of Inhibition: Lord of Blood's Favor
Naturally, you must soak the Lord of Blood's Favor in a maiden's blood. The Church of Inhibition, located on the east side of Liurnia and southwest of the Grand Lift of Dectus, is the easiest to find. The quickest way to get here is to enter from the north, so use Torrent from the Lift area to dash up the hill towards the church at the top of the cliff.
There are plenty of enemies to avoid, but the main issue here is Frenzy Flaming Tower, which is nearby—if you are familiar with Bloodborne's Nightmare of Mensis area, you will get the idea. Exposure to the tower causes the madness effect, so use the terrain to the line of sight it as much as possible. As soon as you pass through the village on the slope, prepare to dash to the Site of Grace at the church ahead, as you will be attacked by an NPC.
Once you have arrived at the Church of Inhibition, take a look at the chair near the Site of Grace. The corpse on the chair can be looted for the Finger Maiden armor, but more importantly, the Lord of Blood's Favor can be used here.
Another option Take the Imbued Sword Key from the highest belfry and use it on the area's second-highest tower. This will transport you to Grafted Scion. After you have defeated it, cross the bridge and proceed up the stairs to the left. You can obtain the maiden's blood by bringing the maiden's corpse inside.
Where to get the Pureblood Knight's Medal
Return to Varré at Rose Church using whichever method you chose. When you speak to him, he will hand over the Bloody Finger item, and you can then speak to him again to receive the Pureblood Knight's Medal. This reusable medal transports you to Moghwyn's Palace, a late-game area in the Siofra River region where you will face the boss Mogh. It also has a pretty cool rune farming location.
If you use the item to teleport to the palace, you will find an invasion summoning sign near the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint Site of Grace, which allows you to invade and fight Varré. After defeating him, you will receive the Varré's Bouquet hammer.
How to get to Mohgwyn's Palace without Varré
If you accidentally kill Varré before obtaining the Pureblood Knight's Medal, you can still reach Moghwyn's Palace, but only later. On the western edge of the Mountaintop of the Giants region, there is a portal.
The Yelough Anix Tunnel is the nearest Grace Site. You will need to head north from here, then to the edge of the cliff, and look for a pathway that leads down a small slope to the south. The path is obscured by leaning rock pillars; the map above should help you find it.
Use the portal to teleport to a dark tunnel once you have found it. Follow the path until you reach a cliff near Mohgwyn's Palace.
